Job Summary:
The Research & Development Engineer will lead in design, development, implementation and execution of processes and process changes while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. As the Research & Development Engineer you will be the subject matter expert in LMI's chemical processes and provide guidance/support to department supervisors by finding and resolving issues while ensuring our quality controls.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
Plan, design and test productions methods for fabrication and chemical processing including control plans, procedures and supporting reports.
Provide expert engineering technical assistance to the facility by analyzing current processes and proposing process improvements.
Works with and provides chemical engineering support to department supervisors including analysis and scope development.
Develop engineering solutions to processes and production problems.
Develop/modify technical guidelines, standards and specification with customer guidelines.
Provide training and mentoring to the fabrication and chemical processing team.
Continuous education on new methods and developments affecting operations and recommending changes for improvements.
Supports other key processes within the organization (Receiving, Receiving Inspection, Equipment, Calibration, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Organic Coatings, Finishing, Packing, etc)
Working directly with Quality Inspection Supervisor, Quality Lab Supervisor and Quality department personnel.
Participates in third-party audits as necessary.
Actively participates in Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
Apply troubleshooting/problem solving to quickly respond to operational issues.
Compliant with safety and environmental regulation.
Present reports defining progress, problems and solutions.
Develop and/or revise standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with standards.
Develops, recommends and coordinates the implementation of new procedures.
Other Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Handles customer-supplied product with care.
Interacts professionally with co-workers and vendors; understands internal customers; and strives to maintain good relations with others.
Identifies equipment, training and service needs and forwards them to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Analysis and disposition on non-conforming products returned from customers.
Coordinates communications between inspection personnel, on-floor operators and customer service representatives, clarifying R & D requirements and customer expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Responds quickly to inquiries and follows up as needed with internal and external customers.
May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by business demands.

Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Materials Science-Metallurgy preffered.
3+ years' experience.
Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Must exhibit ability to troubleshoot and correct problems using problem-solving skills.
Must have ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Must exhibit interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment.

Physical Requirements:
This position will require an employee to work in both a factory and office environment. The site will contain mobility barriers with uneven ground-level and obstructed pathways. Working conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor with varying temperatures, and with various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc. The work environment characteristics described above are representative of what an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
